Bats Shoot Down Red Barons, Win 2-1

LOUISVILLE, KY- Severe thunderstorms were covering southern Indiana during the first five innings and unfortunately they reached Louisville Slugger Field in the sixth inning. After a one hour and 50 minute rain delay, the Bats edged out a comeback win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons, 2-1.

The Red Barons struck first as Bobby Scales came around to score off a Ray Olmedo throwing error in the fifth inning.

Bats starter Josh Hall had a strong outing allowing just one unearned run on three hits. Hall was making a spot start for the Bats as he will be heading back to Double-A Chattanooga after tonight's game.

After the rain delay, Louisville came to bat in the bottom of the sixth. Snyder belted his 10th home run off of relief pitcher Dan Giese to tie the score at 1-1.

The Bats took the lead in the eighth inning as Olmedo led off with his second double of the night; he came around to score off of Snyder's RBI single making the score 2-1. Snyder finished the game 3-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI and Olmedo finished the game 3-for-4 with two doubles.

Mike Burns (2-0) recorded the win for Louisville as he went two innings giving up no runs and one hit. Jake Robbins recorded his fourth save of the season.

Travis Minix (0-2) took the loss as he went one inning giving up one run and two hits.

The time of tonight's game was 2:06 and the attendance was 6,414. The Bats will finish the series against the Red Barons on Thursday, June 8th, at 7:15 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Field. The starting pitcher for the Bats will be RHP Justin Germano (3-6, 4.66) and RHP Adam Bernero (NR) will start for the Red Barons.
