Ryan Vogelsong started and pitched five shutout innings, Tyson Gillies and Freddy Galvis combined for a monster day at the plate, and the Phillies Double-A squad got revenge on the New York Yankees Double-A team 5-1 on Thursday afternoon at the Yankees Complex in Florida, moving to 5-5 on the season this spring.

Vogelsong, who pitched his college ball at Kutztown University, scattered four hits over five masterful shutout innings of work, fanning four batters and walking none. Jonathan Velasquez took over on the mound and tossed two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out one. Tyson Brummett pitched one inning, allowing the only New York run of the day, and Santos Hernandez closed the door with a shutout final inning.

The Double-A Phils wasted no time getting started offensively, scoring three runs in the top half of the first inning. The team tacked on two more runs in the fifth, and finished the day with five runs on eleven total hits. Gillies, acquired with Phillippe Aumont and J.C. Ramirez from Seattle in the Cliff Lee trade, continued to show why he's an elite prospect, going 3-3 with a triple, and two runs scored. The Vancouver native is abusing pitchers this spring, hitting a remarkable .381 for the Double-A squad.

Galvis, 20, continued to shine, racking up two more hits while adding his team-leading seventh RBI -- lifting his spring average to an illustrious .370. Cody Overbeck plated a run with his second double this spring, and Stephen Susdorf added a run with a two-bagger of his own. Brandon Pinckney added his first two RBI's with the Double-A team to put the game out of reach.

The Double-A squad is back in action Friday when they take on the Jays Double-A team at the Carpenter Complex at 1:00 p.m.

Spring Phillers: Phillies top prospect Domonic Brown went 1-3 with a run scored and is hitting .263 with the Double-A squad after impressing many with his terrific play with the big league club earlier this spring... Velasquez lowered his ERA to 2.25 and has allowed just one run in four innings for the Double-A team.
