August 13, 2014

CURVE, PA - Before 7,078 fans at People's Natural Gas Field the Trenton Thunder were defeated by the Altoona Curve, 4-2 in another late-innings loss to begin the roadtrip.

The Thunder trailed 2-0 after leftfielder Andy Vasquez had a two-run single in the 3rd inning off starting pitcher Jairo Heredia. The game became closer after Tyler Austin's RBI single in the 6th and then became tied when Ben Gamel singled to left field to score Mason Williams.

However, Cesar Cabral faced five batters in the bottom of the 7th and allowed two walks and two singles before being removed from the game, trailing 4-2. He was charged with the loss and drops to 0-2 on the season with his ERA at 4.91.

Heredia allowed two earned runs over four innings while matching his Eastern League career-high with six strikeouts. Since the Thunder tied the game in the 7th, he did not factor in the decision.

Offensively, the lone Thunder batter with multiple hits in the game was Ali Castillo

The Thunder have lost four consecutive ballgames for the first time since June 22-25, and have dropped to 3-5 against the Curve this season with the season series finale coming Thursday night.
