FORMER YANKEE BUCKY DENT TO VISIT NBT BANK STADIUM
The Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are excited to announce that former New York Yankees shortstop Bucky Dent will make an appearance at NBT Bank Stadium on August 27th to meet fans and sign autographs. Dent will be signing at Delta Sonic Car Wash in North Syracuse earlier that day.
Dent, best known for his go-ahead home run in the one-game playoff between the Yankees and Boston Red Sox in 1978, will be signing autographs on the stadium concourse from 6-8 p.m. during the Chiefs' game that night versus the Rochester Red Wings. The 12-year MLB veteran will be signing one item per fan, which can include baseball memorabilia. The Chiefs and Delta Sonic will provide fans at Dent's appearance at Delta Sonic with a co-branded photo of his famous home run, while supplies last. No other items will be signed at Delta Sonic.
Complimentary general admission tickets to that evening's game will be available during Dent's 45-minute appearance at Delta Sonic. The time of his appearance at Delta Sonic will be announced as the date approaches. Fans interested in memorabilia signing will need to visit NBT Bank Stadium.
"Bucky Dent is a name that will live in baseball lore as long as the game is played," said Chiefs General Manager Jason Smorol. "The Chiefs, along with Delta Sonic, are so excited to be able to bring him to the great fans of Central New York!"
Fans must have a ticket to that night's 7 P.M. game to be able to participate in the signing. Dent will only be signing at NBT Bank Stadium for two hours, so fans are encouraged to arrive at the ballpark early.
Dent played for four different teams during his career, including a stint with the Yankees from 1977-1982, in which he part of back-to-back championship-winning teams in 1977-78. He was named the 1978 World Series MVP after hitting .417 in New York's six-game win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Dent's career highlights also include three trips to the All-Star Game. After his playing career ended, Dent managed the Yankees in parts of the 1989 and 1990 seasons.
