Red Sox Sign Eight Free Agents to Minor League Contracts
The Boston Red Sox today announced that they agreed to terms on contracts with eight international free agents. These are the club's first signings during the 2014-15 international signing period, which began July 2. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Ben Cherington and Director of International Scouting Eddie Romero.
In right-handers Anderson Espinoza (No. 1) and Christopher Acosta (No. 3), the Red Sox signed two of the top three pitching prospects in this year's international signing period, according to Baseball America.
All eight players are currently working out at the Red Sox' Dominican Academy in El Toro, DR.
