PRIME TICKET to Televise Dodgers/Reds Game From Las Vegas
Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully will call the action on PRIME TICKET. He is entering an unprecedented 61st season broadcasting Dodgers baseball. His standing as the greatest sportscaster of all-time was reaffirmed in 2009 by the American Sportscasters Association (ASA), which put his name atop the list of the 50 greatest to ever sit behind a microphone. In 2008, Scully was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame in New York City as well as the California Sports Hall of Fame.
Scully has accumulated many broadcasting highlights over his great career. He broadcasted three perfect games (Don Larsen in 1956, Sandy Koufax in 1965 and Dennis Martinez in 1991) and 19 no-hitters; the Dodgers first game in Los Angeles at the Coliseum on April 18, 1958; Don Drysdale's 58.2 scoreless innings streak in 1968 and Orel Hershiser's 59.0 scoreless innings streak in 1988; Hank Aaron's 715th career home run at Atlanta's Fulton County Stadium on April 8, 1974; the rookie season of Fernando Valenzuela in 1981.
The Dodgers flagship radio station, TalkRadio 790 KABC, will also broadcast the game with Charlie Steiner and Rick Monday calling the action.
"Los Angeles is the key tourist market for Las Vegas," 51s General Manager Don Logan said. "Las Vegas will receive great exposure in the Southern California area. The Dodgers have a tremendous following in Southern Nevada and many of the players on the current big league roster played for the 51s before excelling on the Major League level."
The Dodgers, on January 20, 2010, announced a partnership with the LVCVA that will include signage at Dodger Stadium as well as several trips to Las Vegas for lucky Dodger fans.
The Dodgers will return to Cashman Field for the first time since March 30, 2006 when they faced the Seattle Mariners (Seattle 4, L.A. 3, sellout crowd of 10,271) and fifth time overall (2001-03, '06). The Las Vegas 51s were the top farm club of the Dodgers for eight seasons (2001-08). The Reds will be making their inaugural Las Vegas visit.
The 51s, under manager Dan Rohn, will open their 28th PCL season in the Silver State on Thursday, April 8 against the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, at 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field. Las Vegas will begin the 2010 campaign with an eight-game homestand against Salt Lake (April 8-11) and Fresno (April 12-15).
Season tickets and mini-plan packages (10, 20, 33-game plans) are available by calling the 51s office at (702) 798-7825.
