Four Fireworks Shows, Penguins' Craig Adams, "Shark Tank" Giveaway, Weird Al(Toona) Salute Highlight Curve's Last Homestand
CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve will begin the final homestand of the 2014 season on Friday night when they welcome in the New Britain Rock Cats followed by division-rival Richmond Flying Squirrels. With the final batch of games at Peoples Natural Gas Field, we're going full throttle to bring you the best entertainment including four nights of postgame fireworks, a "Shark Tank" Fish Tank Ornament giveaway, an appearance by the Pittsburgh Penguins' Craig Adams, and Weird Al(Toona) Night.
Kicking off the homestand will be the first of four nights featuring postgame fireworks. Make sure you stop by the ballpark on Friday night when we light up the sky thanks to our friends at Good Funeral Home. Fans can also visit the ballpark on Sunday, to catch the display following the 6 p.m. game. Don't forget to catch the postgame fireworks show following Tuesday's 7 p.m. game and following the final game in Curve, Pa. on Thursday Night.
The final giveaway of 2014 comes on Saturday night when the first 1,500 fans to the ballpark can take home the "Shark Tank" Fish Tank Ornament presented by Premier Services of PA. Three Pittsburgh Pirates (and former Curve hurlers) help form the Bucs' bullpen known as the "Shark Tank". The three slingers featured include Tony Watson, Jared Hughes, and Justin Wilson.
There are two chances for fans win the jersey straight off the back of the players. The first jersey auction will be the Art-Style Jerseys on Sunday night as part of Day of the Arts at Peoples Natural Gas Field. All proceeds from Sunday's jersey auction benefit the Altoona Symphony Orchestra. The final jersey auction of the season will feature the Hockey-Jerseys on Monday. The Curve players will wear jerseys that follow a similar scheme to that of the Penguins, with a little flavor of Curve, Pa. thrown into the mix too. Proceeds from the hockey jerseys benefit the Steve Kelsey Memorial Foundation.
While on the theme of hockey, the Curve will bring in Craig Adams from the Pittsburgh Penguins as part of Monday's festivities. The Pens' forward will shoot the ceremonial "first puck" and sign autographs for fans on the Rocky Gap Casino Resort Entertainment Deck during the game for two hours.
Following a Two-for-Tuesday with Fireworks, it's "Weird Al(Toona) Night" on Wednesday when the Curve celebrate Weird Al Yankovic's recent #1 album on the pop chart with a night themed after the entertainer. Fans wearing Hawaiian Shirts, possessing shoulder-length curly hair, or working as a professional architect can all get FREE admission. Audio and video clips of Weird Al's recent and classic recordings that parody popular songs will be played throughout the evening including when Al Tuna emerges from the centerfield wall to celebrate the Curve scoring runs. Food specials on "Twinkie Wiener Sandwiches" and Whoopie Pies will also be available just as Weird Al would like them.
For tickets and information, call 877.99.CURVE, visit www.AltoonaCurve.com, or stop by the Curve front offices during normal business hours.
