Tomas Telis Gets Big League Promotion
Tomas Telis, a member of the 2011 Hickory Crawdads team, became the 130th former player to receive a major league call-up when the Texas Rangers purchased his contract from AAA Round Rock on Monday.
The native of El Tigre, Anzoategui, Venezuela signed with the Rangers as an international free agent in 2007. The SAL all-star batted .297 with 28 doubles, 11 homers and 69 RBI in 115 games with Hickory. He has since moved up through the Rangers chain and played this season at AA Frisco and AAA Round Rock. Overall in 2014, he is hitting .318 with 23 doubles, four triples, five homers and 50 RBI.
