Knights Unfurl 2015 Schedule
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - With just two home games remaining during the record-breaking inaugural season at BB&T Ballpark, the Charlotte Knights unfurled their schedule for the 2015 season in Uptown Charlotte today.
Baseball officially returned to Charlotte, NC on Thursday, April 11, 2014 with the opening of BB&T Ballpark. Through 69 home games in 2014, the Knights have welcomed 667,593 fans through the gates of their new kingdom - the highest attendance in all of Minor League Baseball this year.
On Thursday, April 9, 2015, the Knights will open their second season in Uptown Charlotte with their season and home opener at 7:05 p.m. against the Norfolk Tides (Baltimore Orioles). Charlotte's first month of the season features the appearance of all three IL South Division foes -- the Tides, Durham Bulls (Tampa Bay Rays), and Gwinnett Braves (Atlanta Braves).
Later in the month of April, the Toledo Mud Hens -- the top affiliate of the Detroit Tigers -- will make their one and only appearance at BB&T Ballpark for a three-game series from April 27-29. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders -- the top affiliate of the New York Yankees -- conclude the opening month of the season with a 7:05 p.m. contest against the Knights on April 30. The two teams will continue their series into the month of May, which consists of 17 exciting home games. May's home slate is made up of three Friday, three Saturday, and three Sunday games.
Throughout the course of the 144-game season, BB&T Ballpark will be ultimate Uptown Charlotte destination for 72 home games, including 12 Friday games, 10 Saturday games, and 10 Sunday games. Monday through Friday games remain predominately scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with exceptions for Wednesday, April 29 (11:05 a.m.), Wednesday, May 13 (12:05 p.m.), and Thursday, September 3 (12:05 p.m.). Saturday games are still on tap for a 7:05 p.m. start time, while seven of the 10 Sunday games are set for 2:05 p.m. Charlotte's final three Sunday games of the season (July 19, August 9, and August 23) are scheduled for 5:05 p.m. start times.
As the 2015 season heats up, the Knights will host nine games in the month of June headlined by the Pawtucket Red Sox -- the top affiliate of the Boston Red Sox from June 16-18. The Knights will also face the top affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates -- the Indianapolis Indians -- from June 19-21. Indianapolis will make two appearances to BB&T Ballpark in 2015 and return to Uptown Charlotte on August 20-23.
July is always an exciting month of the season and the Knights host 13 home games - all against IL South Division teams. The month kicks off with a two-game series against the Tides from July 2-3. After a three-game road trip through Georgia against the Gwinnett Braves, the Knights return home on July 7 for a three-game showdown with the Durham Bulls. An eight-game homestand after the All-Star Break (July 16-July 23) caps-off the month of July.
BB&T Ballpark will host its final full month of the season with 17 games in August. IL South Division rivals return, along with the first and only appearance by the Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays) and Rochester Red Wings (Minnesota Twins). In all, the Knights will host the Gwinnett Braves on seven occasions in August. The month of August also features the team's first and only 10-game homestand (August 4-August 13). Charlotte will host their final regular season home game of the 2015 season on Friday, September 4 with a 7:05 p.m. matchup against the Durham Bulls (Tampa Bay Rays).
