Snodgress joins White Sox roster
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 31, 2014) -- Former Kannapolis Intimidators starting pitcher Scott Snodgress has been added to the Chicago White Sox roster today, becoming the 81st former player to go from Kannapolis to the Major Leagues since 1995 and 57th since the Intimidators became a White Sox affiliate in 2001. The White Sox announced the roster move prior to today's game against Detroit.
Snodgress, 24, opened the 2012 season as a member of the Kannapolis rotation. The White Sox fifth round pick in the June 2011 draft made 19 starts for the Intimidators, going 3-3 with a 3.64 ERA, including a dominant final two months in the South Atlantic League during which time he posted a 1.99 ERA in June and July. The 6'6" left-handed hurler finished the 2012 season with Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem and opened 2013 with Class AA Birmingham. Snodgress began 2014 with Birmingham and is 6-8 with a 4.01 ERA in 29 games (21 starts) between Birmingham and Class AAA Charlotte. He has worked eight games out of the Knights bullpen this season.
Snodgress is the second former Intimidator in as many days to reach the big leagues, following Chris Bassitt, a 2011 Intimidator, who made his MLB debut on Saturday as the White Sox starting pitcher in the second game of a doubleheader against Detroit. A former Stanford standout, Snodgress is the fourth former Intimidators player to join a Major League roster this season along with Carlos Sanchez, Taylor Thompson and Bassitt -- all of whom made their big league debuts with the White Sox.
The Intimidators have two games left in the 2014 season, with home games today at 5:05 p.m. and Monday at 1:05 p.m at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.
The Kannapolis Intimidators are in the 20th season of professional baseball in Kannapolis and the team's 14th as the Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. This year's team is managed by Pete Rose Jr. and features some of the top prospects in the White Sox farm system. CMC-NorthEast Stadium is located off I-85 at exit 63.
