September 1, 2014

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies have announced that the San Francisco Giants have purchased the contracts of infielder Chris Dominguez and catcher Guillermo Quiroz, and recalled left-handed pitcher Mike Kickham and outfielder Juan Perez.

Dominguez, 27, batted .274 (136-496) with 23 doubles, three triples, 21 home runs, 85 RBI and 21 stolen bases over 131 games for Fresno. Defensively, he saw action in right field, left field, and at third base, shortstop and first base. He became the first player in franchise history to record at least 20 doubles, 20 homers, 20 stolen bases and 80 RBI in a single season. According to the Pacific Coast League, it also makes him only the 18th player in PCL modern history (since 1958) to accomplish the feat and the first since Salt Lake's Terry Evans in 2009. The Major League promotion is the first of his career.

Quiroz, 32, hit .267 (64-240) with 13 doubles, a triple, three homers and 23 RBI over 69 games (62 starts) for the Grizzlies. He batted .300 (30-100) at home and .311 (19-61) with runners in scoring position. It marks his first callup since appearing in 43 games for the Giants last season.

Kickham, 25, went 8-8 with a 4.43 ERA (73 ER/148.1 IP) and 131 strikeouts over 27 starts with Fresno. Over 12 starts from May 25th-July 24th, he was 6-0 with 2.74 ERA (21 ER/69.0 IP), 70 strikeouts and a .232 (60-261) opponents' average. The 12-start undefeated streak was the longest by any Fresno starter since Madison Bumgarner (also 12) in 2010. The promotion is the third of his career.

Perez, 27, batted .316 (56-177) with 13 doubles, seven homers, 25 RBI and seven stolen bases over five stints with Fresno. He cracked a game-ending solo homer on August 17th in the second game of a doubleheader against Colorado Springs. The outfielder is batting .175 (11-63) with four doubles, a homer and two RBI over 45 games with the Giants this season.

Dominguez, Quiroz and Kickham join George Kontos, Tyler Colvin, Jake Dunning, Joe Panik, Adam Duvall, Travis Ishikawa and Andrew Susac as players to begin the year with Fresno and receive a promotion to the Giants.
