Labor Day Win for Savannah
The Rome Braves (32-38) drop game four to the Savannah Sand Gnats (41-29) on Monday afternoon by a score of 4-1 to split the series at two games apiece and conclude the 2014 season.
The Sand Gnats took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Champ Stuart tripled and was brought home on a ground out by Dominic Smith. Savannah increased their lead in the seventh when Luis Guillorme crossed on a fielding error and Victor Cruzado singled home two runs for the 4-0 score. The Brave's saw the score board in the bottom of the frame thanks to a solo home run by Carlos Franco (9) to make the score 4-1. The 4-1 score would stand for the rest of the contest for the final Savannah victory.
Robert Whalen (9-1) gets the win while Brandon Barker (5-2) is charged with the loss.
ROSTER MOVE: Prior to the game, the Rome Braves announce that LHP Sean Bierman has been transferred to Lynchburg of the Carolina League.
