Express President Dave Fendrick Retires
ROUND ROCK, Texas - Round Rock Express President Dave Fendrick announced Thursday morning that he is retiring after 15 years with the organization and a total of 39 in professional baseball. Express CEO Reese Ryan announced that former Express president Jay Miller will return to the organization in the same capacity.
"I would like to thank the Ryan and Sanders families for providing me the honor and privilege of representing the Round Rock Express over the past 15 years," Fendrick said. "It has been the ultimate experience of my baseball career and I will forever be indebted for the faith and confidence in affording me this opportunity. In addition, I would like to thank the hard working staff of the Round Rock Express, along with the countless fans, players, coaches, managers and sponsors that have made the Express and Dell Diamond the special place and organization it has become over the last decade and a half. It has been a terrific ride and I am eternally grateful for the experience."
Fendrick has been an integral part of the organization since its inception in 1999. He began his association with the Express as the club's initial assistant general manager for sales and marketing. He moved into the role of vice president and general manager prior to the 2005 season and served as senior vice president and general manager during the 2009 and '10 campaigns. He was named to his current title following the 2010 season.
"Dave has been an essential part of the success the Round Rock Express has achieved over these past 15 years," Ryan said. "In every position he has served, Dave has been an anchor and great mentor to our staff. We are excited to celebrate his retirement and feel blessed to have had him a part of our Express family."
Miller, who joined the Express in 1998, served as the first general manager in franchise history. Following the 2004 season, he was named chief operating officer of Ryan Sanders Baseball and president of the Express. He stayed in that capacity until August of 2010 when he was named the Texas Rangers Senior Vice President.
"I'm honored and excited to once again be a part of the Express front office and Ryan Sanders Baseball," Miller said. "I'm looking forward to getting back to the great community in Round Rock and Central Texas. Their support from the fans, community and sponsors is unparalleled. Most of all, I'm just excited about coming home!"
The Express opens the 2015 season on Thursday, April 9 in Oklahoma City against the conference-rival RedHawks. For more information on the Express, visit www.RoundRockExpress.com or call (512) 255-2255. Keep up with the Express on Facebook and Twitter!
