Chattanooga Lookouts Group Sales Manager Morgan Billups Named the Southern League's Woman of Excellence
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Today, the Southern League announced that Morgan Billups, Group Sales Manager for the Chattanooga Lookouts, has been named its Woman of Excellence, as voted upon by the league's general managers. Billups is the first woman from Chattanooga to receive this award. She is also the Southern League's nominee for the Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year Award, which is presented by Minor League Baseball at the Winter Meetings.
In June of 2013, Billups was tasked with organizing the 2014 Southern League All-Star Game for the host city of Chattanooga. From start to finish Billups oversaw every aspect of the two-day event including the 2014 Home Run Derby at Historic Engel Stadium and the All-Star Game Luncheon that featured 1962 NL-MVP and five-time All-Star, Maury Wills.
After a year of planning, the 2014 All-Star Festivities took place from June 16-17 and went off without a hitch. The week ended with a 6-4 victory for the South Division and a post-game reception.
"The 2014 All-Star Game was a great success due to the exemplary effort from our staff and Morgan's leadership," Lookouts President and General Manager Rich Mozingo said. "Pulling off such an outstanding event for the Southern League and the City of Chattanooga is a great accomplishment that would not have been possible without her."
Known for her problem solving and customer service skills, she not only produces revenue for the club, but on a daily basis provides a positive and forward thinking attitude while working to make every game special for our fans.
"Morgan has been an important part of our organization for two seasons in many different ways," said Mozingo. "As well as being a terrific Group Sales Manager she is integral in hiring and training our entire ushering staff throughout the year."
Billups joined the Lookouts as an intern during the 2012 season as Group Sales Associate. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from W.V. Wesleyan College in December 2011 and a Master's Degree in Sport Management from West Virginia University in May 2013. Before coming to Chattanooga, she spent the summer of 2011 as an intern with the Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League.
