June 14, 2006
T.J. Nall worked a season-high eight innings as visiting Jacksonville set a franchise record with 13 straight wins by topping Mississippi, 3-2, on Tuesday.

The Suns (46-20) broke a club record set on Aug. 17 last season. The longest winning streak in the Southern League's history is 16 games, set by Montgomery from July 3-26, 1968.

Nall (4-2) won his fourth straight game since joining the Suns starting rotation on May 28. He gave up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and one walk. Mark Alexander struck out two of the three batters he faced in a perfect ninth inning for his 15th save.

Jacksonville broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth against starter Glenn Tucker (0-2). Wilkin Ruan doubled and Craig Brazell hit a ground-rule double to right field to drive him in.

The Suns went up, 2-0, in the second when Tydus Meadows singled and moved to third on A.J. Zapp's double before coming home on a wild pitch. Nall plated Zapp with a single to left.

Mississippi (29-36) tied the score in the fourth. Gregor Blanco scored on Yunel Escobar's groundout. Michael Rosamond Jr. knocked in Matt Esquivel with an RBI double.

Braves starter Dan Curtis gave up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks in seven innings, but did not figure in the decision.

Esquivel led Mississippi with two hits.
