Rusney Castillo to play for PawSox on Tuesday
Rusney Castillo belted two hits, including a double, in Double-A Portland's 8-5 loss to Binghamton in the decisive Game 5 of the Eastern League playoffs Sunday.
Next stop for Castillo? Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday night, for Game 1 of the Governor's Cup Finals against Durham.
How have the reports been on Castillo?
"Despite going 0-for [Saturday], it's a matter of him getting his timing down," said Red Sox manager John Farrell. "The reports have been favorable, just with the overall explosiveness, the speed, the bat speed. But still, we're looking at roughly 14, 15 at-bats I believe. Reports are positive, but he's just kind of getting back into game shape."
The presence of multiple Boston affiliates in the playoffs has been beneficial for the Red Sox in their efforts to get Castillo as many at-bats as possible before coming to the Majors.
"He just needs at-bats," Farrell said. "The plan is at some point for him to come to us."
