International League Finals: Durham vs. Pawtucket (Best of Five)
Durham Bulls vs. Columbus Clippers: Durham wins series 3-1
Despite losing game one of their first-round matchup with the Columbus Clippers (Cleveland Indians), the Durham Bulls went on to win their next three games en route to a series victory over Columbus. The Bulls, who won the IL South Division after posting a 75-69 record, are back in the Triple-A National Championship Game for the second time in as many years. Durham won the Governors' Cup last season after beating the Pawtucket Red Sox in four games. Led by manager Charlie Montoyo - the winningest manager in Bulls franchise history -- the club is back in the playoffs for the seventh time over their last eight seasons. Durham played in the Triple-A National Championship Game in 2009 and 2013 -- winning the championship in 2009. They lost in last year's game to the Omaha Storm Chasers.
Pawtucket Red Sox vs. Syracuse Chiefs: Pawtucket wins series 3-0
The PawSox came in second place in the IL North Division this season -- 2.5 games back of first place Syracuse (Washington Nationals) -- who won the division after compiling an 81-62 record. While both teams split their regular season series (8-8), the PawSox swept the Chiefs in the playoffs this year, winning all three games and becoming the first team to clinch a berth into the finals. Led by first-year manager Kevin Boles, the PawSox are in the Governors' Cup Finals for the third-straight season after beating the Charlotte Knights in 2012 and losing to the Bulls in four games last year.
Pacific Coast League Finals: Reno vs. Omaha (Best of Five)
Las Vegas 51s vs. Reno Aces: Reno wins series 3-1
Both teams had identical records during the regular season (81-63) and the matchup featured a battle of two Nevada squads. Las Vegas (New York Mets) -- led by manager Wally Backman -- won the first of the four games, but it was Reno who came on strong to win the next three games to complete the series victory. Reno is heading to their second PCL Championship series over the last three seasons. The Aces, who are led this season by manager Phil Nevin, won the Triple-A National Championship Game in 2012 over the Pawtucket Red Sox.
Omaha Storm Chasers vs. Memphis Redbirds: Omaha wins series 3-1
The Storm Chasers are the defending Triple-A National Champions after winning last year's game at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA. This season, Omaha won the Pacific Coast League American Northern Division after compiling a 76-67 record. The Memphis Redbirds (St. Louis Cardinals) won the Pacific Coast League American Southern Division this season with a 79-64 record and were dealt the Storm Chasers in round one. Led by manager Brian Poldberg, Omaha won three of the four first-round games to move on to the PCL Finals for the fourth time in the last four seasons.
