Reynaldo Lopez named SAL Player of the Month
HAGERSTOWN M.D. - The South Atlantic League announced on Tuesday that Suns RHP Reynaldo Lopez was named the league's Player of the Month for the month of August. It is the first player of the month award won by a Suns player this season.
Lopez went 3-0 during the month of August with an ERA of 0.27 over six starts. In 33.2 innings pitched he gave up just one run on 13 hits, while walking six and striking out 25. In August Lopez limited opponents to a .117 batting average against and he had a 0.56 WHIP.
Lopez finished the regular season with a 4-1 overall record and a 1.33 ERA in nine starts for the Suns. Lopez also spent time this season pitching for short-season Auburn, where he went 3-2 with a 0.75 ERA in seven starts. In the postseason Lopez has started one game and got a no decision, as he tossed six scoreless innings on Friday night in Greensboro, and allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out a season-high 10 batters.
