All-Star Event Tuesday at Wyche Pavilion
The City of Greenville and the Drive are announcing plans for the 2010 SAL All-Star Game
The City of Greenville and the Greenville Drive will host a lunchtime celebration on April 20 to announce plans for the South Atlantic League All-Star Game slated for Tuesday, June 22, at Fluor Field at the West End.
The April 20 celebration will be held at the Wyche Pavilion next to Falls Park in downtown Greenville. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. and lasting approximately one hour, the event will be open to the public and include free hot dogs and soft drinks, prize drawings and presentations about plans surrounding the All-Star festivities, which include much more than the game itself.
Expected speakers include Greenville Mayor Knox White, Drive President Craig Brown and Drive General Manager Mike DeMaine, who will announce the individuals to be enshrined in the South Atlantic League Hall of Fame during All-Star week. The 85-member Hall reads like a Who's Who of American baseball, including such luminaries as Hank Aaron, Harmon Killebrew, Nolan Ryan and legendary manager Sparky Anderson.
"We're thrilled that Greenville will be hosting the South Atlantic League All-Star Game this year and look forward to sharing the exciting plans for this event with the public on April 20," said Brown. "This event belongs to everyone in Greenville, and we hope the community will enjoy all the activities we have planned and help showcase the fantastic region we are fortunate enough to call our home."
Tickets for the SAL All-Star Game are already on sale, starting at just $6. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit the box office at Fluor Field at the West End, call 864.240.4500 or go to www.greenvilledrive.com.
