KEYS MAKE IT FOUR IN A ROW, AGAIN
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third inning, Frederick 2B Buck Britton hit his second home run in the last four days, driving a two-run home run to right field off of Nationals starter Brad Peacock to give the Keys a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the third inning Frederick RHP Ryan O'Shea tip-toed out of a major jam. With the bases loaded and no outs, O'Shea forced Nationals RF Michael Burgess to pop out in foul ground. The next batter, 1B Tyler Moore bounced into an inning ending double play and the crisis was averted.
Frederick would add on to its lead after Peacock left the game. The Potomac righty struck out a career-high ten batters in his five innings of work.
With Peacock out in the sixth inning the Keys gained some insurance. DH LJ Hoes singled home RF Ronnie Welty to put the Keys atop 3-1. Frederick would not look back, adding three seventh inning runs to push its lead to 6-1.
Keys LF Jacob Julius registered the first three-hit game for a Key this year. Raul Rivero and Brandon Cooney combined to work four scoreless innings out of the pen. The series continues Wednesday night at 7:03 p.m. at Pfitzner Stadium as the Keys send Nate Nery to the hill. Coverage begins at 6:43 p.m. in The Keys Baseball Network as Frederick looks for a fifth consecutive win for the first time since August of 2006.
Frederick returns home for a weekend series with Salem Friday, April 23 through Sunday, April 25. For tickets contact the Keys Box Office at 1-877-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
