Braves Lose Marathon Game
Rome scored first in the bottom of the fifth. L.V. Ware singled to bring in Ramon Flores for the first run. The next batter, Kyle Rose, singled to score Ware for the 2-0 lead.
In the sixth, Kannapolis cut the lead in half with an RBI single by Kyle Colligan. The Intimidators tied it up at 2-2in the seventh inning on a home run down the left field line.
Both teams were held scoreless for the next twelve innings until a double by Colligan in the top of the twentieth scored Kyle Davis. Kannapolis was able to hold onto the lead for a 3-2 win.
Garrett Johnson (1-0) earns his first win in relief for Kannapolis while Thomas Berryhill (0-1) picks up the loss for Rome. Braves relievers go twelve innings giving up one run on six hits.
Roster Move: Pitcher Thomas Berryhill has been sent to Danville of the Appalachian League and Rome receives pitcher Andrew Wilson from the Danville Braves.
