Bell Activated, Mendoza Reassigned to Arkansas
Bell, 23, has yet to appear in a game this season having suffered a left hamstring injury during spring training. In 2009, he appeared in 11 games (all starts) for Salt Lake, owning a 3-4 record with a 3.15 ERA and 38 strikeouts. He made his major league debut with the Angels on August 12, 2009 and appeared in eight games (four starts) for the Halos last season. The North Hollywood, Calif. native was originally selected by the Angels in the first round of the 2005 draft.
Mendoza, 22, has appeared in three games (all starts) for the Bees in 2010, owning a 0-1 record with a 5.51 ERA. In 2009, he pitched in four games (all starts) for the Bees, registering a 2-1 record with a 2.91 ERA and 10 strikeouts. In 20 games (all starts) for Arkansas last season, he owned a 7-7 record with a 3.36 ERA and 86 strikeouts. The Hialeah, Fla. native was originally selected by the Angels in the fifth round of the 2005 draft.
