Missions spoil Kinsler's return to Frisco
The San Antonio Missions scored eight runs in the top of the second inning, beating Frisco, 9-2, at Dr Pepper Ballpark on Monday night.
Prior to Monday's game, RoughRiders starter Richard Bleier(1-2, 8.24) had gone at least 5.2 innings in each of this three previous starts. However, he didn't make it out of the second inning on this night, as the Missions roughed him up for eight runs on six hits over 1.2 innings.
San Antonio left fielder Sawyer Carroll and first baseman Matt Clark each had big nights with the bats. The two hitters combined to go 4-10 with four RBI and four runs.
Even with Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler (0-3,BB) in the lineup on a rehab start, the 'Riders bats struggled to break out against the Missions. Frisco scored one run in the bottom of the third when an infield single off the bat of right fielder Joey Butler scored Matt Lawson. The'Riders only other run came in the fourth inning when third baseman Renny Osuna singled home James Tomlin.
Missions starter Jeremy Hefner (2-0, 1.35) went five innings and allowed one earned run on five hits, striking out four.
Frisco and San Antonio will play game two of a four-game series on Tuesday night, when Kasey Kiker(0-1, 3.86) faces off against the Missions Simon Castro(1-0, 0.53).
