Canadians Stadium Renovations Underway

Nat Bailey Stadium upgrades front and center
April 30, 2010
(Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - The transformation has begun as crews arrived at Nat Bailey Stadium early Friday morning to begin the process of tearing down all exterior lighting poles situated around the ballpark before replacing them with new energy efficient light upgrades.

"This is a proud moment for our organization as we continue to try and become more responsible with our power usage and carbon footprint," says Canadians president Andy Dunn.

The new lighting system will be ready and operational weeks in advance of the 2010 season and will help the Canadians reduce their energy needs by approximately 66% moving forward.

The previous lighting system, installed back in 1949 has served as one of the longest standing ballpark illumination grids in Minor League Baseball. Work on the removal of the current lighting system should be completed by the middle of May.

"We have had tremendous support from the Vancouver Park Board, the City of Vancouver as well as our partners with BC Hydro Power Smart," adds Dunn.

"Without the help of these partners, none of our current upgrades would be happening".

The Vancouver Canadians also announced the addition of a new high-resolution video board known as "Canadians Diamond Vision" that will get its first test drive by May 6th as the club hopes to roll it out in time for the upcoming University of British Columbia Thunderbirds Baseball Regional Playoff set for next week out at Nat Bailey Stadium.
