Sandberg, I-Cubs visit for four games

Hall of Famer in 1st season at the helm of Cubs' Triple-A squad

Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg leads his Iowa Cubs into Zephyr Field for a four-game series with the New Orleans Zephyrs beginning Monday, May 3rd.

In his first season at the helm of the I-Cubs, Sandberg is in his fourth season overall as a manager in the Chicago Cubs organization. Sandberg spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons managing the Class A Peoria Chiefs, before assuming the same role with the Class AA Tennessee Smokies last year.

A 2005 inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame, Sandberg racked up nine consecutive Gold Gloves, 10 straight All-Star Game appearances, and was the 1984 National League Most Valuable Player.

The four-game series between the Zephyrs and Cubs begins with Monday's 7:00 p.m. opener. All fans with tickets from last Wednesday's Heath Evans Foundation Softball Showdown can redeem their stub for a free ticket to Monday's Zephyrs game. After an 11:30 a.m. game on Tuesday, the Z's celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Wednesday, with $2 Coronas and margaritas. The series concludes on Thirty Thursday, with drink specials throughout the night.

Tuesday (11:30 am): RH Rick VandenHurk (1-2, 6.55) vs. RH Mike Parisi (0-2, 9.00)
Wednesday (7 pm): RH Ryan Tucker (0-2, 3.57) vs. LH J.R. Mathes (2-3 5.34)
Thursday (7 pm): RH Brian Lawrence (1-2, 5.06) vs. RH Jay Jackson (2-3, 2.48)
