BIRTHDAYS:
Nick Tepesch ('11, P) turns 26. The native of Blue Spring, MO was the 14th round pick of the Rangers in 2010 out of the University of Missouri. Tepesch went 7-5 in 29 games (23 starts) for Hickory with two complete games and a 4.03 ERA. He struck out 118 and walked 33 in 138.1 innings with 70 runs allowed (62 earned) on 147 hits. Tepesch went on a quick ascent to the majors and made his big league debut with Texas on April 9, 2013. He is in his second season with the Rangers.

BIRTHDAYS:
Shane Youman ('03, P) turns 35. The native of New Iberia, LA was the 43rd round pick of the Pirates in 2001 out of Louisiana State. He went 6-3 with a save and a 4.65 ERA in 40 games (one start). Youman has 58 strikeouts and 35 walks in 50.1 innings with 31 runs allowed (31 earned) on 51 hits. He stayed with the Pirates and made his major league debut with Pittsburgh on 9/10/06. Youman moved on to the Phillies in 2008 at AA Reading and then played with a series of independent and foreign league teams. He played this season with Lotte in South Korea.

Teodoro Martinez ('11, OF/ Aragua) went 2-for-5 with a run scored and stole a base for Aragua in its 4-1 win over Caracas.
BIRTHDAYS:
Ryan Bores ('13, P) turns 24. The native of Strongsville, Ohio was the 27th round pick of the Rangers in 2012 out of Kent St. He went 3-2 in 24 games (six starts) with one save and a 4.61 ERA. Bores struck out 34, walked 20 and allowed 36 runs (35 earned) on 78 hits over 68.1 innings. He split this season at high-A Myrtle Beach and AA Frisco.
Diogenes Diaz ('99, C) turns 36. The native of Villa Mella, D.R. signed with the Pirates in 1995. He batted .205 in 13 games with two doubles and one RBI. Diaz was released in 1999.
Andrew McCutchen ('06, OF) turns 28. The native of Ft. Meade, FL was the first round pick of the Pirates in 2005 out of Ft. Meade High. He batted .289 in 114 games with 20 doubles, four triples, 14 homers and 62 RBI. The SAL all-star went on to make his major league debut with Pittsburgh on June 4, 2009. With the Pirates McCutchen has blossomed into one of the National League's best players. He is a four-time NL all-star, including his first start in center this year. McCutchen has also won two Silver Slugger Awards, one Gold Glove and was the MVP of the NL in 2013. He was recently inducted into the Crawdads Hall of Fame.

BIRTHDAYS:
Mike Bumatay ('00-'01, P) turns 35. The native of Clovis, CA was the 21st round pick of the Pirates in 1998 out of Clovis High School. He went 4-0 with eight saves and a 2.26 ERA over 31 games (one start). In 51.2 innings, Bumatay struck out 63, walked 20, and allowed 17 runs (13 earned) on 40 hits. He bumped up to high-A Lynchburg to finish out 2001 and remained there through 2002. Bumatay then pitched two seasons for the Rockies chain, making it as far as AAA Colorado Springs. From then, he spent successive years in the minors with the Tigers, Red Sox, Reds and Athletics, leaving at pitching for AA Midland in 2007.
Angelo Leclerc ('14, P) turns 23. The native of Esperanza, D.R. signed with the Rangers as an international free agent in 2010. This season with Hickory, Leclerc went 3-4 with four saves and a 2.33 ERA in 24 games (seven starts). In 65.2 innings, Leclerc struck out 71, walked 24, and allowed 19 runs (17 earned) on 63 hits.
Ben Levesque ('01, P) turns 35. The native of Cary, NC was the 13th round pick of the Pirates in 1998 out of Cary High School. He went 1-2 with a 9.33 ERA in 16 games with eight strikeouts and 15 walks in 18.1 innings. Levesque was released by the Pirates while with Hickory.
David Moore ('95, P) turns 40. The native of Orlando, FL was the 34th round pick of the White Sox in 1993 out of Dr. Phillips High School. Moore went 1-0 with a 6.18 ERA in 20 relief outings for Hickory with 15 strikeouts and seven walks in 27.2 innings. He finished up 1995 at rookie affiliate Bristol before his release.

BIRTHDAYS:
Chuck Antczak ('95-'97, C) turns 41. The native of Sarasota, FL signed with the White Sox as a free agent out of Mason City in the independent Grand Central League. He played in 16 games over three seasons and went 4-for-19 with three RBI. He finished up his playing career in 1999 in the Phillies chain and then became a high school baseball coach. Antczak coached his fourth season as Riverview High in Sarasota.
Cody Eppley ('09, P) turns 29. The native of Wellsville, PA was the 43rd round pick of the Rangers in 2008 out of Virginia Commonwealth. Eppley went 1-3 with six saves and a 2.93 ERA in 37 relief outings. He also struck out 76 and walked just six in 67.2 innings with 31 runs (22 earned) allowed. Among pitchers with 50 or more innings, Eppley's 0.80 walks-per-nine innings is the lowest in club history. He went on to make his big league debut with Texas on April 23, 2011, but finished up that season at AAA Round Rock. The Yankees picked up Eppley from waivers at the start of the 2012 and he became a key member of the relief corps that advanced to the ALCS. He struggled with the Yanks in 2013 and returned to AAA at Scranton /Wilkes-Barre before his release. Eppley started this season at AAA Indianapolis in the Pirates chain and finished with Lancaster of the independent Atlantic League.
Robbie Erlin ('10, P) turns 24. The native of Scotts Valley, CA was the third round pick of the Rangers in 2009 out of Scotts Valley High. He went 6-3 with one save and a 2.12 ERA in 28 games (17 starts). Erlin struck out 125 and walked 17 in 114.2 innings with 37 runs (27 earned) allowed. The SAL all-star became the first Crawdads pitcher to win the league's ERA title and posted the club's second best mark. He also holds the club record in WHIP (0.92), is third in strikeouts-per-nine innings (9.81) and walks-per-nine innings (1.33). Erlin continued to excel with the Rangers and moved up quickly to AA Frisco in mid-2011 before was dealt to the Padres. He made his debut with San Diego on April 30, 2013.
Matt Foust ('08, P) turns 30. The native of Stilwell, KS was the sixth round pick of the Pirates in 2007 out of the University of Nebraska. He made only two appearances (one start) with Hickory and went 0-2 with a 15.23 ERA. Foust ended up at short-season State College before his release. He was an assistant high school coach in Missouri and made a brief return to the pros as a player in 2012 with Kansas City of the independent American Association.
Jeff Inglin ('96-'97, OF) turns 39. The native of Petaluma, CA was the 16th round pick of the White Sox in 1996 out of USC. He played briefly with Hickory after his selection and returned for a full season in 1997. Overall, Inglin batted .338 with 40 doubles, eight triples, 18 homers and 117 RBI. He holds single-season club records in at bats (536), runs scored (100), hits (179), and had a club record 24-game hitting streak. Inglin remained with the White Sox through 2002 at AAA Charlotte before moving on to the Phillies chain in 2003. From there, Inglin spent time with the Marlins and Orioles before stint with Surprise of the independent Golden League.
Kyle Pearson ('05-'07, P) turns 30. The native of Panama City, FL was the Pirates fourth round pick in 2003 out of Mosley High in Panama City. He pitched in 64 games (24 starts) and went 6-17 with a 5.42 ERA and six saves. In 202.2 innings, Pearson struck out 118, walked 64 and allowed 141 runs (122 earned) on 249 hits. Pearson was named to the 2007 SAL all-star game and received the nod as the game's most outstanding pitcher. After making it to AA Altoona in 2008, Pearson was traded to the Tigers and finished his career at high-A Lakeland.

Elio Borges ('98, 3B) turns 37 The native of Miami, FL was the 52nd round pick of the White Sox in 1997 out of Miami Senior High School. Borges batted .212 in 22 games with three doubles and seven RBI. The White Sox released him in 1998.
Jim Dixon ('94-'95, P) turns 42. Born in Anchorage, AK, Dixon was the 24th round pick of the White Sox in 1993 out of New Mexico State University. He went 10-8 with a 3.13 ERA and 12 saves over 75 games (10 starts). In 172.2 innings, Dixon struck out 161, walked 51 and allowed 93 runs (60 earned) on 174 hits. He is third overall in games pitched and fifth in a single-season among pitchers with 50 more innings with a 1.93 ERA in 1995. Dixon reached high-A during his career and was released while with the Crawdads.
Scott Patton ('93-'94, P) turns 41. The native of Mission Viejo, CA was the fourth round pick of the White Sox in 1992 out of Capistrano Valley High School. In 49 games, he batted .212 with four doubles, one homer and 17 RBI. The White Sox released Patton in 1994, who then went on to play college football at Saddleback College and the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
Ronald Uviedo ('07-'08, P) turns 28. The native of Calabozo, Venezuela signed with the Pirates in 2006 after his release from the Mariners. He went 3-1 with a 3.25 ERA and five saves over 36 relief appearances. In 74.1 innings, Uviedo struck out 83, walked 17 and allowed 34 runs (27 earned) on 73 hits. He made it to AA Altoona with the Pirates in 2010 before a trade sent him to the Blue Jays. Uviedo went up to AAA Las Vegas before his release. He spent 2013 with Camden of the independent Atlantic League and this year in Italy.

Joseph Ortiz ('09-'10, P) was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs from the Texas Rangers.
Wilmer Font ('09-'10, P) was outrighted to the Rangers minor league system.

Chris Mader ('93-'94, 3B) turns 44. The native of Tewksbury, MA was the 53rd round pick of the White Sox in 1991 out of Rollins College (FL). The SAL all-star batted .265 in 194 games with 36 doubles, three triples, 16 homers and 90 RBI. Mader is third in a single season with 81 walks and eighth in on base pct. (.398). The White Sox released him in 1994 and Mader finished up his career in 1995 with the Indians chain at high-A Kinston.
Matt Meath ('02-'03, OF) turns 35. The native of Boca Raton, FL signed with the Pirates as a non-drafted free agent in 2001 out of the University of Central Florida. He batted .220 in 73 games with seven doubles, three triples, four homers and 25 RBI. Meath finished up his playing career at AA Altoona in 2007.
Marty Romero ('96, C) turns 38. The native of Caracas, Venezuela signed with the White Sox as a free agent in 1996 after playing for the Yankees. He went 2-for-18 in five games with one RBI. Romero played at short-season Bristol through 1998 before his release.
