American Idol finalist Crystal Bowersox to appear at Fifth Third Field prior to Hens game on Friday, May 14!
Toledo-area native Crystal Bowersox has advanced to the 'final three' on American Idol and will be celebrating at Fifth Third Field on Friday, May 14! The 24-year-old local songstress will be performing the national anthem in front of her hometown fans prior to the game!
Tickets for the game are still available (Standing Room Only) for fans online by clicking here or by phone at 419-725-HENS (4367). The Hens box office will be open Thursday until 5:00 pm and Friday starting at 9:00 am.
Friday's game time has been pushed back to 7:30 pm, as Crystal will be making her grand entrance at 7:00 pm.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
CRYSTAL-PALOOZA (5:30-7:00 pm)
5:30 pm: Gates Open
- VIP Passes will be distributed to 36 fans at random for field level access during Crystal festivities (courtesy of Fox Toledo)
- Fans can sign up at Guest Services to win tickets to the American Idol Live Tour at the Huntington Center in September
- Idol Mania Design-a-Sign throughout the main concourse
- Bowersox cheer cards distributed (10,000 total) to fans as they enter (courtesy of The Blade)
- Crystal music plays on the sound system
- Crystal's American Idol performances will be played on the two (2) giant video boards at Fifth Third Field
- Right field board is 20' x 40' (800 square feet)
- Left field board is 32' x 30' (960 square feet)
- Fans will have a chance to get their face on the video boards with "Crystal Fan Cam"
- Beach balls in the stands courtesy of Hawaiian Pools
- Cannon launcher shooting t-shirts into the crowd and Applebee's soft baseballs
CRYSTAL PARADE/1ST PITCH/ANTHEM (7:00-7:30 PM)

7:00 pm: Fans encouraged to be in their seats by 7 pm with their signs held high, cameras out, and video cameras rolling!
- Crystal makes her grand entrance onto the field on the back of a 2011 Ford Mustang (courtesy of Kistler Ford) and makes a complete lap around the ballpark
- Crystal throws the ceremonial first pitch
- Crystal performs National Anthem between home plate and the pitcher's mound
- Hannah Castro is introduced as the ProMedica Health System's 'Play Ball' Kid of the Game
- Hannah is from Port Clinton and like Crystal, has Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes and has created "Hannah's Hope for a Cure" to raise money for juvenile diabetes research. Hannah started the charity after hearing about Crystal and was inspired by the singer.

7:30 pm: First pitch between the Toledo Mud Hens and Indianapolis Indians
Fans who ordered tickets online or over the phone are encouraged to pick-up tickets early, as large crowds are expected at the ticket offices on Friday. Tickets can be picked up at the First Base Ticket Office (by the Swamp Shop; on Washington St., towards St. Clair St.) on Thursday between 9 am and 5 pm or anytime Friday after 9 am.
