Indians Awarded MiLB Game of the Year

Spokane's 11-inning no-no nabs an overwhelming 32 percent of votes
October 27, 2014

Spokane, WA - Minor League Baseball announced that the Spokane Indians have been awarded Game of the Year for its 11-inning combined no-hitter on August 10. Spokane topped Everett 3-0 in the contest. Fans voted between eight spectacular games, but Spokane's historic feat amassed 32 percent of the votes.

Led by starter Derek Thompson, a 2013 12th-round draft pick, four Indians pitchers combined to toss 11-innings of no-hit ball. Thompson collected five strikeouts in his five innings of work, leaving the mound in a scoreless tie. Reliever Shane McCain was on the bump for a season-high three innings, retiring nine straight batters. Adam Parks, who picked up the win, controlled two innings of his own. Luis Pollorena finished the game, securing the save.

Despite dominant pitching, the Indians needed Luke Tendler's three-run home run in the top half of the 11th inning to seal the victory.
