Storm Pitching Stifles Inland Empire, Shutting Them Out 1-0.
Lake Elsinore struck for the only run of the game early in the first inning. Rehabbing Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera singled to to left field to lead off the game. Storm second baseman Cole Figueroa then bunted for a single, but a fielding error on Inland Empire first baseman Austin Gallagher allowed both runners to advance an additional base. With two runners on, designated hitter Drew Cumberland singled to score Cabrera from third. Cabrera's run would eventually prove to be the deciding factor in the game. The Storm would only produce one more hit in the game when first baseman Cody Decker singled to left off 66ers relief pitcher Brandon Mann in the top of the ninth inning.
The Storm (20-13) sit atop the California Leage Southern Division, a half-game above the High Desert Mavericks (19-13). Lake Elsinore will take on the 66ers two more times before returning home for a seven-game homestand at The Diamond starting on Friday, May 14th at 7:05pm.
