The win moved Somerset to 1.5 games back of first-place Reading in the Northeast Division with 22 games remaining in the second half.
The Patriots advanced to 4-4 against the Yard Goats this season.
Down 4-2 entering the eighth, Somerset used a three-run eighth and five-run ninth to win its seventh game this year when trailing after seven. The eight runs in the eighth inning or later were Somerset’s most since scoring 12 runs in the eighth and ninth innings on August 18, 2023 at Reading.
In the ninth, the Patriots brought nine batters to the plate for the 22nd time in a single inning this season and first time since the second inning vs. New Hampshire on August 11.
Somerset batted 7-for-14 with RISP. Somerset’s seven hits with RISP tied Somerset’s total on July 25 at New Hampshire for the most in a game in the second half.
With homers from DJ Gladney and Coby Morales, Somerset has smashed multiple homers in 49 of 116 (42.2%) games this season, improving to 34-15 in those contests. RHP Yerry Rodríguez (1.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 3 K) picked up all three outs in the first inning on strikeouts in his Somerset debut. Rodriguez struck out at least three batters for the third time across all levels this season.

SS Roderick Arias (3-for-5, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 3 R) recorded his first three-hit game and first three-RBI game at Double-A. Arias powered a double down the left field line in the sixth inning, before singling and scoring in the eighth inning. In the ninth inning, Arias slammed a three-RBI double into right field.
Arias has four XBH and four RBI in his last four games and is 5-for-17 in that stretch. In 14 games with Somerset, Arias has registered 16 hits and is slashing .286/.344/.826 with a HR, 8 XBH and 11 RBI. Arias has reached safely in 12 of 14 games to start his stint with Somerset. RF DJ Gladney (3-for-4, HR, 2 2B, 5 RBI, BB, R) tallied RBI extra base hits in each of his last three plate appearances to record his 26th multi-hit game with Somerset this season. Gladney cranked an RBI double to score Roderick Arias in the sixth inning, before blasting his team-best 22nd homer of the season on a three-run go-ahead shot to right field in the eighth inning. Gladney’s homer gave Somerset a 5-4 lead, marking his team-leading 11th go-ahead homer of the season. Gladney is the first Somerset batter to smash 22 homers with the Patriots since Tyler Hardman with 26 home runs in 2023. In the ninth inning, Gladney doubled to bring Arias home for Somerset’s 10th run of the game.
Gladney has reached base in 17 of his last 18 games. With hits in 15 games during that span, Gladney is slashing .356/.392/.726 with 7 HR, 13 XBH and 26 RBI. Since July 19, Gladney’s 26 RBI lead the Eastern League and are tied for fourth in Double-A. They lead all MiLB batters with fewer than 80 plate appearances in that stretch.

3B Coby Morales (1-for-5, HR, RBI, R) smashed a solo homer to lead off the fifth inning. Morales’ homer extended his career-high home run total to 20 this season. Morales joins Garrett Martin (24), Tyler Hardman (23), Gladney (22), Jackson Lovich (21), Josh Moylan (21), Yanquiel Fernández (20) and Marco Luciano (20) as the eighth Yankees farmhand to record 20-plus home runs this season.
With 20 HR and 20 SB, Morales becomes the second Patriot to ever record 20 homers and 20 stolen bases with Somerset in a single season (Oswaldo Cabrera - 2023 – 24 HR, 20 SB). Morales joins Dérmis Garcia, Hardman, Martin, Gladney and Cabrera as the sixth batter to ever homer 20 times with Somerset in a single season.
Morales increased his on-base streak to 14 games and hit streak to four games. During Morales’ 14-game on-base streak, he’s slashing .286/.444/.510 with 2 HR, 5 RBI and 5 XBH.
C Manny Palencia (1-for-3, BB) singled and walked to reach safely in 10 of his last 11 games. In that span, Palencia is slashing .375/.395/.750 with seven XBH. Since the beginning of July, Palencia has nine multi-hit games and is slashing .369/.393/.583 with 4 HR, 14 RBI and 10 XBH in that span. Palencia’s .369 AVG leads all Double-A catchers with 85-plus plate appearances in that stretch.
