Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow is expected to begin his Major League Rehab Assignment with the Bulls this evening as they face off against the Norfolk Tides on Friday evening at Harbor Park.

Glasnow joins Durham after being placed on the Injured List with a left oblique strain on March 29. According to Tampa Bay Rays beat writer Marc Topkin, Glasnow is expected to pitch three innings tonight as part of a two or three start stint.

The 22-year-old appeared in four games with the Bulls last season as part of a Major League Rehab Assignment as part of his rehab process recovering from Tommy John surgery. In those four starts he combined for no record and 1.29 ERA (7.0 IP), yielding a lone earned run on just one hit while striking out 14 batters compared to four walks. He would go on to make two starts with Tampa Bay at the end of the season, tallying no record and 1.35 ERA (6.2 IP).

In 106 Major League outings (67 starts), Glasnow has compiled a 20-20 record and 4.00 ERA (409.2 IP), adding 516 strikeouts. He was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fifth round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of William S. Hart High School in Santa Clarita, California. Tampa Bay acquired Glasnow as part of a July 31, 2018 trade along with outfielder Austin Meadows and right-hander Shane Baz in exchange for right-hander Chris Archer.
