KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 17, 2017) - Daniel Gonzalez came through with a clutch hit to tie the game in the eighth before the Intimidators fell to the West Virginia Power, 7-4 in 11 innings, on Wednesday night at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System.  Kannapolis (10-16 Second Half, 49-45) committed four errors on the night to aid West Virginia.
With the Power on top 4-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Daniel Gonzalez stepped to the plate with Jake Burger and Luis Gonzalez on first and second base and drove a Matt Anderson offering down the right-field line. Burger scored easily on the play as right field Clark Eagan threw the ball in to second base. Luis Gonzalez accelerated around third and beat a relay throw home, sliding under the tag of catcher Arden Pabst for the tying run.  
Daniel Gonzalez finished 3-for-5 with two RBI to pace the Intimidators offense.  
In the top of the 11th, Garrett Brown followed a pair of walks with a 2-run triple off Danny Dopico, and Carlos Munoz singled to cash Brown to cap the 3-run inning. Brown finished 2-for-5 with three RBI for West Virginia.
Anderson (5-5) earned the win despite being tagged with a blown save while Dopico (2-3) suffered the loss. Dylan Prohoroff struck out the side in the bottom of the 11th for the save (3).
The Intimidators continue this series against the Power on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. Kannapolis sends RHP Yosmer Solorzano (3-7, 5.70 ERA) to the mound against West Virginia's RHP Eduardo Vera (3-4, 304 ERA). Thursday's game features a special appearance by former Kannapolis A.L. Brown Wonders and Charlotte 49ers running back Kalif Phillips, who will throw out the first pitch and sign autographs for fans before he begins his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers. The first 300 kids on Thursday will receive a set of Topps Baseball Cards as part of Minor League Baseball's Domestic Violence Awareness initiative in conjunction with the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation.
