The Oklahoma City Comets scored nine runs in a 13-batter bottom of the fourth inning and beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 9-4. The Comets have won the first two games of the six-game series.
Two of the Chihuahuas’ runs came on solo home runs by right fielder Oscar Gonzalez. He led off the fourth inning with a high home run to left field and led off the sixth inning with a homer into the visiting bullpen in right field. He was the second Chihuahuas batter to hit two home runs in a game this season, after Trenton Brooks did so against Salt Lake on March 28. Brooks went 1-for-3 with an RBI double Wednesday and now has at least one RBI in all four games this season.
Austin Krob pitched 2.2 scoreless innings for El Paso in his first Triple-A start. El Paso starting pitchers have thrown 5.2 innings in the series and have not allowed any runs. Chihuahuas relievers Austin Davis and Logan Gillaspie both pitched two scoreless innings Wednesday.
