Gonzalez Promoted to Sox, Dedelow to Knights

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights have announced three roster moves ahead of tonight’s 6:35 p.m. game against the Syracuse Mets from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte, NC. (UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights have announced three roster moves ahead of tonight’s 6:35 p.m. game against the Syracuse Mets from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte, NC.

INF Romy Gonzalez was recalled by the Chicago White Sox today. Gonzalez, 25, has appeared in 33 games this season with the Knights and is hitting .198 (24-for-121) with 15 runs scored, five doubles, four home runs, 10 RBIs and five stolen bases. Gonzalez entered the season ranked by Baseball America as the 15th prospect in the Chicago White Sox system. Last season, he appeared over three levels in the organization (Birmingham, Charlotte and Chicago). He combined to hit .283 (101-for-357) with 24 home runs and 61 RBIs between Double-A Birmingham and Charlotte (93 games). He also appeared in 10 games with the White Sox last season and hit .250 (8-for-32).

OF Craig Dedelow was promoted to the Charlotte Knights today from Double-A Birmingham. In 104 games with the Barons this season, the Indiana native is hitting .232 (89-for-383) with 69 runs scored, 16 doubles, four triples, 22 home runs, 68 RBIs and 10 stolen bases. He is currently tied for second in the Southern League in home runs, first in RBIs, seventh in slugging percentage (.467), tied for fifth in triples, eighth in walks (54), second in total bases (179) and tied for second in runs scored.Last season, Dedelow hit .224 (82-for-366) with 51 runs scored, 20 doubles, one triple, 17 home runs and 56 RBIs with the Barons in 107 games.

RHP Matt Foster was added to Charlotte’s active roster today. Foster was optioned to the Knights from the Chicago White Sox on August 15. In 47 games with the White Sox this year, Foster is 1-2 with one save and a 4.50 ERA (44.0 IP/40 SO).
