Gowdy Named High-A East Pitcher of the Week

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - BlueClaws RHP Kevin Gowdy was named High-A East Pitcher of the Week after throwing six hitless innings in a win at Brooklyn on Thursday. He is the first BlueClaws player to win a High-A East weekly award so far this season.

In Thursday's game, Gowdy retired the first 12 batters he faced before a leadoff walk in the fifth inning. He would escape with a double-play. Then, he issued his second walk with two outs in the sixth inning before getting a flyout to end the frame. He faced just one over the minimum across his six innings while striking out five. His six innings of work marked the longest outing of his career and he picked up his second consecutive win in the process.

Gowdy and the BlueClaws return home on Tuesday to welcome in the Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees) to FirstEnergy Park. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are Red, White and BlueClaws Weekend with post-game fireworks July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th thanks to Camping World, Tri Honda Dealers, and the Jersey Shore Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
