Grasshoppers Defeat the BlueClaws, 4-0 on Wednesday Evening

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeat the Jersey Shore BlueClaws 4-0, on Wednesday, April 16. The Grasshoppers improved to 8-3 on the season while the BlueClaws fell to 4-7. Greensboro outhit Jersey Shore 8-3 as the Grasshoppers had one mishap.
Infielder Keiner Delgado led the Grasshoppers offense as he went 2-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Infielder Javier Rivas and outfielder Shalin Polanco followed close behind as they both went 2-4. Rivas tallied one RBI while Polanco recorded a home run, a double, two RBI, and one run scored. Hits for Greensboro were also recorded by Duce Gourson and P.J. Hilson.
Hits for the BlueClaws were tallied by infielder Bryan Rincon, outfielder Dylan Campbell, and catcher Luke Davis.
Starting on the mound for Greensboro was righthanded pitcher Antwone Kelly as he tallied four strikeouts and gave up one hit on four innings of work. Righthander Jack Carey recorded the win for the Grasshoppers and improved to 1-0 on the season.
Starting on the mound for Jersey Shore was righthanded pitcher Casey Steward as he tallied six strikeouts and gave up five hits, four earned runs, and two free bases on five innings of work. Steward took the loss for the BlueClaws and fell to 1-2 on the season.
