ST. PAUL, Minn. – Hunter Greene tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts and Jan Hernandez drove in the lone run of the contest as the Louisville Bats two-hit the St. Paul Saints in a 1-0 shutout Thursday night at CHS Field.

[BOX SCORE]

Greene retired nine of the first ten batters he faced, not allowing a hit through four innings before St. Paul’s Nick Gordan broke through with a leadoff base knock. The right-hander escaped the frame unharmed and finished with a lone hit, one walk and 10 strikeouts across 6.1 scoreless innings as part of his second quality start of the season.

He threw 80 pitches, 57 for strikes, and topped out at 103 MPH. With his first career double-digit strikeout performance at the Triple-A level tonight, Greene has now whiffed seven or more batters in each of his last four starts.

Braxton Lee scored Louisville’s lone run in the contest, drawing a full-count walk in the second and crossing home on an BRI double from Jan Hernandez. Lee slid headfirst and just beat the tag to score as the game-winning tally.

Reds’ rehabber Lucas Sims closed out the sixth inning for Greene before Cionel Perez and Dauri Moreta covered the final two frames, working a scoreless inning apiece, to complete the two-hit shutout.

The two teams will be back in action from CHS Field Friday at 8:05 p.m. at CHS Field. RHP Michael Mariot (2-3, 3.91) is scheduled to toe the slab against St. Paul’s RHP Chandler Shepherd (5-5, 6.41).
