GreenJackets Open Road Trip with Comeback Win

Augusta Scores Three in the Ninth to Take Game One

MYRTLE BEACH, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets (23-25) returned to the road after seven straight games at home and opened their series versus the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (23-26) with a 6-3, come from behind win.

After a pair of scoreless innings, the Pelicans broke the stalemate with a three-run third that featured an RBI groundout from Parker Chavers and a two-run single by Moises Ballesteros to grab a 3-0 lead.

Augusta would stay within striking distance as starting pitcher, Jorge Bautista did not allow a run in his next three innings on the mound to earn his first quality start as a GreenJacket with five strikeouts and no walks during his outing.

In the sixth, Augusta began their comeback effort as David McCabe dropped a base hit into center field to score Keshawn Ogans and make it a two-run game at 3-1.

In the seventh, the GreenJackets inched closer with a sacrifice fly by Keshawn Ogans to bring in Kevin Kilpatrick from third to make it a one-run contest. The next batter was Ignacio Alvarez who delivered his first hit in an Augusta uniform to tie the game as he singled home Kadon Morton to make it a 3-3 game.

The score was locked at three all the way into the ninth inning. The GreenJackets loaded the bases with two outs for Drake Baldwin and he put Augusta ahead for the first time with a bases-loaded walk to give the GreenJackets a 4-3 edge. David McCabe then put the game away with a two-run single up the middle to plate Stephen Paolini and Keshawn Ogans to push Augusta's lead to 6-3.

Rob Griswold entered in the ninth and worked around a one-out hit as he put up a zero in the final frame to close out a 6-3, comeback win for the GreenJackets.

Tyler Owens (5-2) earned the win in relief with Rob Griswold (7) picking up his team-best seventh save of the season. Gregori Montano (1-1) suffered the loss for the Pelicans.

David McCabe supplied the first and last RBIs for the GreenJackets as he drove in a career-best three runs on two hits. Keshawn Ogans scored two runs with an RBI while Drake Baldwin, Kevin Kilpatrick, and Ethan Workinger each had two hits in the contest.

The GreenJackets will look to make it two in a row on Wednesday as Landon Harper takes the mound against Sam Thoresen for the Pelicans with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm.
