Hampson's Five-Hit Night Boosts Isotopes to Victory

Garrett Hampson had a career night at the plate for the Isotopes (37-36) on Friday, recording five hits as he led Albuquerque to a 7-5 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies (45-28).

Garrett Hampson had a career night at the plate for the Isotopes (37-36) on Friday, recording five hits as he led Albuquerque to a 7-5 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies (45-28).

All five of Hampson's hits went for singles as he also scored three runs and stole two bases in the contest. The five-hit game was the first of the 23-year-old's professional career as well as the first by an Isotope since Ryan McMahon accomplished the feat on June 24, 2017.
Albuquerque's top of the order of Raimel Tapia, Hampson and Mike Tauchman combined to go 10-for-15 on the night with six runs scored and four RBI. Tapia's three doubles tied the Isotopes single-game record.
Lefty reliever Keith Hessler pitched 2.0 scoreless innings to earn the win while D.J. Johnson closed out the ninth for his career-high 11th save. Starting pitcher Sam Howard lasted 4.2 innings after allowing four runs and seven hits.
Albuquerque and Fresno will wrap up their series on Saturday with a doubleheader at Chukchansi Park. Antonio Senzatela is scheduled to start the first game for the Isotopes. Game one will begin at 6:05 p.m. The second game will follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first contest.
