Eric Hartman drove in two runs, including a go-ahead RBI in the fifth inning, but it was not enough for the Columbus Clingstones (23-21, 52-56) in their 4-3 loss to Birmingham Barons (20-24, 46-67) on Saturday night at Regions Field. Decisive Plays: A monster 460-foot two-run home run from Anthony

Decisive Plays: A monster 460-foot two-run home run from Anthony DePino gave Birmingham a 2-0 edge in the first inning. Columbus rallied in the third inning to tie the game with an RBI groundout from Hartman and an RBI single from Jordan Groshans. A walk and a stolen base from John Gil in the fifth inning was cashed in on another RBI single from Hartman to hand the Clingstones a brief 3-2 lead, but Birmingham responded with two runs on a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch in the home half to take a 4-3 lead. With Luke Waddell at second base and one out in the sixth inning, a wild pitch escaped Barons' catcher Jorge Corona to the backstop. Waddell attempted to score but was tagged out at the plate in the Clingstones' last real chance to tie the game.

Key Contributors: Hartman (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Groshans (1-for-4, RBI) accounted for the Clingstones scoring. For Birmingham, DePino (2-for-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI) had a huge night at the plate.

Notable: After batting .154 (4-for-26) in his first six Double-A games, Hartman is batting .375 (6-for-16, 3 RBI) over his past three games this week. Groshans tallied his 67th RBI of the season and is now three RBI shy of the franchise record of 70, set by Ethan Workinger in 2025. Columbus falls to 17-18 in 1-run games this season.

Next Game (Sunday, August 16): Columbus at Birmingham, 3:05 p.m. ET at Regions Field. LHP Braden Scott (2-0, 2.14 ERA) will start for Columbus opposed by RHP Connor McCullough (1-7, 4.37 ERA) for Birmingham. Radio Broadcast: 2:50 p.m. ET on SportsVisions 92.1 FM. Stream: Bally Sports Live.
