Spartanburgers’ Series Opener against Drive Suspended Due to Weather

Hub City trails 5-0 halfway through the third

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Spartanburgers and Drive opened up a six-game series at Fifth Third Park on Tuesday night. Halfway through the third, the skies opened up with constant thunderstorms. The game was officially suspended just after 8:30 p.m. ET, and it will resume on Wednesday as part of a doubleheader.

Ismael Agreda opened the game with back-to-back outs against the top of the Greenville lineup. The Drive then stacked up four straight singles, including a two-run base hit from Luke Heyman. Isaiah Jackson then landed a punishing blow with a three-run homer to the right field corner.

The Spartanburgers bats managed one hit against Drive starter Alex Bouchard through two innings. Before Hub City could swing the sticks in the bottom of the third, the tarp was unfurled.

Hub City and Greenville will finish Tuesday’s game, beginning in the bottom of the third, at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday. Wednesday’s scheduled game will follow 30-40 minutes after the conclusion of game one and will span seven innings. Hub City will play game two as the Spartanburg Pastimes; the scheduled American Legion World Series Cap giveaway will begin when gates open at 5:00 p.m.
