Highly touted prospect Taj Bradley gets called up to Durham

The Tampa Bay Rays have promoted right-hander Taj Bradley to Durham from Double-A Montgomery. So far this season, Bradley has posted a 3-1 record and 1.70 ERA with the Biscuits in 16 appearances. He has allowed 17 runs in 74.1 innings of work, ringing up 88 strikeouts.

Bradley is listed as the #18 overall prospect according to Baseball America and the #33 overall prospect according to MLB.com. With Bradley’s addition to the Durham roster, the Bulls now have two top 30 prospects in baseball as Curtis Mead is #28 according to Baseball America.

Last season, in his time with Charleston and Bowling Green, Bradley combined for a 12-3 record and 1.83 ERA in 23 outings, and led all minor league players in ERA He also ranked tied for third in that group in wins, eighth in batting average against (.181) and ninth in WHIP (0.93).

Bradley was selected in the fifth round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays out of Redan High School in Stone Mountain,

Georgia. Since being drafted, the 21-year-old has spent time in the Rays farm system with the GCL Rays in ‘18, Princeton Rays (2019) , Single-A Charleston RiverDogs and High-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (2021), and Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (2022). He would make his Triple-A debut when he first appears in a game for Durham.

The Bulls begin a nine-game homestand on Friday, July 22, hosting the Norfolk Tides and Lehigh Valley IronPigs through Sunday, July 31. First pitch of the series opener is scheduled for 6:35pm.
