April 24, 2018

BINGHAMTON, NY - Vladimir Guerrero Jr.  set a new franchise high by recording his 19th RBI in the month of April and Bo Bichette  logged his first-ever two triple game in the New Hampshire Fisher Cat's (Blue Jays) 9-4 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets) at NYSEG Stadium Tuesday night.

Vlad Jr. tallied two RBI in the game, the first of which came in the opening stanza. After a lead-off home run for Jonathan Davis  - his first - Bichette followed with a three-bagger. That set up a run-scoring ground out for the top Blue Jays prospect (MLB.com) to make it 2-0 before the Rumble Ponies had a chance to bat.
After scoring a run in the second, New Hampshire was held scoreless until the offense manufactured a pair of runs without recording a hit in the top of the sixth.
The 'Cats broke it open in the seventh. Four hits - including triples from Pat Cantwell and Bichette plus an RBI single by Guerrero Jr. - plated four runs and put the Fisher Cats up 9-3. Cavan Biggio  delivered an RBI base knock in the inning, his seventh RBI in five games. He leads the league in slugging percentage and extra base hits.
Jordan Romano  (W, 3-0) broke his streak of quality starts but still went 5.2 innings in which he allowed three runs on four hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Justin Shafer pitched an inning and a third of scoreless relief.
With the win, New Hampshire improves to a league-best 12-5 on the season.
The rubber game is set for tomorrow night in Binghamton. RHP Nick Tepesch  of New Hampshire will be opposed by the Rumble Ponies' Nabil Crismatt. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. with the Fisher Cats Pregame Show and continues with first pitch at 6:35 p.m. on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
The team returns to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Friday, April 27 for the first of three games against the Trenton Thunder.
