BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods return home from their 10 game road trip with a 7-3 win over the Lansing Lugnuts. LHP Resly Linares was phenomenal once again on the mound to lead the Hot Rods to the win over the Lugnuts, who they'll face in round one of the playoffs.
The Hot Rods got the scoring started in the bottom of the third inning when DH Moises Gomez hit his fifth home run in nine days to give the Hot Rods a 1-0 lead.
Bowling Green added on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning in what started when C Ronaldo Hernandez reached on a strikeout wild pitch, and scored on a triple from 2B Trey Hair to make the score 2-0. Hair scored on a sac fly from 3B Justin Bridgman to make the score 3-0. Then CF Jake Stone doubled, and scored on an error when RF Emilio Gustave stole second, and the throw went into the outfield and the Hot Rods lead 4-0.
Bowling Green added on another run in the fifth inning when Hair scored LF Jim Haley with a sac flay to make the score 5-0.
The Lugnuts fought back in the top of the seventh inning when they started things out with three straight walks before two runs came home to score on an error off the bat of 1B Ryan Noda to put the Lugnuts on the board. Lansing scored another run on an RBI fielders choice from 3B Brandon Grudzielanek and it was a 5-3 ballgame.
Bowling Green responded right away in the bottom of the seventh when Haley was hit by a pitch, and then Hair hit a two run home run and the lead was 7-3 Hot Rods.
RHP Simon Rosenblum-Larson pitched the final two innings for the Hot Rods and did not allow a base runner while striking out four.
The Hot Rods and Lugnuts meet again tomorrow at 6:35pm CST from Bowling Green Ballpark. RHP Tobias Myers gets the start for the Hot Rods, and he will be opposed by RHP Donnie Sellers for the Lugnuts.
