BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods lost the first game today, a completion of a suspended game from 5/31, and won game two. Both games had a final score of 4-3
Game one picked up in the top of the fourth inning of a 1-1 game where Fort Wayne was the home team. RHP Tyler Zombro picked things up for the Hot Rods on the mound. Bowling Green scored first in the fifth inning when RF Emilio Gustave reached on an error, and then scored on an RBI double from SS Zach Rutherford to make the score 2-1. The Hot Rods got a third run in the sixth when CF Carl Chester and 1B Devin Davis hit back to back doubles.
The TinCaps took the lead in the sixth inning when they had five hits and scored three runs to take a 4-3 lead. RHP Travis Radke sent the Hot Rods down in order in the seventh to earn the save and secure the victory for Fort Wayne.
Game two was a bit of a different story for the Hot Rods who started things off with a bang. SS Taylor Walls and Rutherford hit back to back home runs in the first inning to give the Hot Rods the 2-0 lead.
Fort Wayne didn't go quietly as they tied the game in the fourth on a solo home run from SS Gabriel Arias after scoring in the second on an RBI double from LF Robbie Podorsky . They fought all the way back to take the lead in the fifth when CF Jeisson Rosario scored on a single and a throwing error.
The Hot Rods responded in time as they scored on in the bottom of the sixth thanks to an RBI double from Chester that scored Rutherford. In the bottom of the seventh the Hot Rods walked off the TinCaps when 1B Jim Haley singled to lead things off and advanced to second on a bunt. Walls sent the fans home happy as he smacked an RBI single into the outfield and scored Haley to give the Hot Rods the walk off win. RHP Mikey York pitched the final two and one-thirds innings and earned his first win of the season.
The Hot Rods will play their last home game of the first half tomorrow right here at Bowling Green Ballpark. RHP Riley O'Brien (3-1, 2.34) gets the start for the Hot Rods, and he will be opposed by LHP Osvaldo Hernandez (4-2, 2.29).
