Arkansas Travelers centerfielder Ian Miller was named a 2017 Texas League Postseason All-Star as announced this afternoon by league President Tim Purpura. Miller was one of three outfielders on the squad as voted on by the league's managers, coaches, broadcasters and selected media members.
Playing in 83 games before a promotion to Triple-A Tacoma, Miller batted .326 with 18 doubles, three triples, four home runs, 29 runs batted in and 30 stolen bases (in 34 attempts). Additionally, he drew 28 walks and had a .382 on-base percentage.
At the time of his promotion, Miller's batting average and stolen base total both led the league. Currently, those numbers are good for second on their respective leaderboards.
Miller was also named to the Texas League's midseason All-Star squad and started for the North Division in the All-Star game in June. This was his second career postseason All-Star selection along with the Appalachian League in 2013. Ian was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 14th round of the 2013 draft out of Wagner University.
Seven of the league's eight squads were represented in the postseason awards with Tulsa 1B/3B Matt Beaty taking home the Player of the Year honor, Springfield RHP Dakota Hudson named Pitcher of the Year and San Antonio's Phillip Wellman selected as Manager of the Year.
