IronPigs Kick Off 2023 Home Slate with a Victory 

Allentown, Pennsylvania (April 4, 2023) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (3-0) kicked off their 15^th season of baseball at Coca-Cola Park with a 5-3 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (1-3) on Tuesday night.

The IronPigs started the scoring in the bottom of the second. Dalton Guthrie singled with one out and then advanced to second on an error. After a popup, Jordan Qsar walked to put two runners on. Delco native Jim Haley then stepped to the plate and smashed a two-run double to put Lehigh Valley ahead 2-0.

The RailRiders tied the game in the fourth on a Jake Bauers two-run homer, his third of the season.

Qsar answered back with a two-run homer of his own, his first of the season, for Lehigh Valley in the bottom of the sixth, making it 4-2.

Esteban Quiroz provided an insurance run for the IronPigs with an RBI base hit in the last of the eighth.

The RailRiders pushed a run across in the top of the ninth on a Willie Calhoun RBI groundout, but Luis Ortiz held on for his first save of the season.

Jake Jewell (1-0) earned his first win of the season for Lehigh Valley by pitching a scoreless sixth, allowing a hit but striking out two.

Michael Gomez (0-1) suffered the loss for the RailRiders, allowing two runs on two hits and walk, striking out two.

Noah Skirrow started for the IronPigs, but did not factor in to the decision after allowing two runs (one earned) over five innings on four hits and a walk, striking out three.

The IronPigs and RailRiders continue their series on Wednesday, April 5, at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is slated for 6:45 p.m.
