At the annual Hispanic Heritage Awards ceremony for the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, the Isotopes won “Cultural Tourism Organization of the Year.” Public voting for the award took place between September 25 through October 9.
The “Cultural Tourism Organization of the Year” award honors a local community organization, business or individual that enhances visitor experiences while preserving, promoting, and elevating the heritage, traditions, and cultural identity of the Albuquerque community.
“On behalf of the entire Albuquerque Isotopes organization, we are incredibly honored and deeply grateful to be recognized as the Cultural Tourism Organization of the Year by the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce,” said Isotopes General Manager Chrissy Baines. “For more than two decades, the Isotopes have proudly welcomed visitors to Albuquerque while celebrating the culture, traditions, and heritage that make New Mexico such a special place. Through initiatives like our Mariachis de Nuevo México identity, we strive to create experiences that connect people to our community and showcase our state's rich Hispanic heritage. We sincerely thank the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber, our fans, partners, staff, and the countless community members who help make this recognition possible."
Each season for the last 24 years, the Isotopes welcome over 500,000 fans from across the country to Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park, adding an invaluable local economic and tourism impact.
The Isotopes commitment to cultural tourism can best be seen through its Copa de la Diversión initiative and the team’s alternate identity, the Mariachis de Nuevo México. Six times each season, Isotopes Park is transformed into a celebration of New Mexico’s rich Hispanic heritage featuring Ballet Folklórico dancers, local mariachi bands and musicians, culturally inspired food and other programming.
Additionally, the club has been recognized nationally as the Copa de la Diversión Campeón on three occasions by Major League Baseball (2018, 2019 and 2023).
For more than two decades, the Isotopes have used their platform as one the state’s most visible entertainment organizations to create connections between visitors, fans and the local business community.
