JACKSON, TN -- Mississippi limited Jackson to two runs on four hits, but could not muster the runs needed to claim the win and clinch the series as the Generals defeated the Braves 2-1 Friday night at The Ballpark at Jackson.
Braves pitchers Max Fried and Philip Pfeifer combined to strike out 11 General hitters. Fried put together one of his best outings of the season but did not get the desired result. He tossed six strong innings, giving up only two runs on three hits. Fried walked three and struck out eight. Pfeifer came on in relief and shut out the Generals over the final two frames, allowing only one hit while striking out three.

Jackson (29-25) got on the board first when Dawel Lugo led off the second with a single to center. He advanced to second on walk to Rudy Flores. After a strikeout, Michael Perez hit a two-run double to left field, giving the Generals an early 2-0 advantage over Mississippi (26-28).
With one out in the fourth, Joey Meneses hit a solo home run to left, cutting the Braves deficit in half. However, that was all of the offense either team would find.
LHP Luiz Gohara (0-0) makes his second start for Mississippi in the final game of the series Saturday at 6:05 PM. Jackson is scheduled to counter with LHP Josh Taylor (4-3).
