JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Despite a great outing from Max Meyer (L, 2-3), the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp fell to the Durham Bulls 3-2 Wednesday afternoon at 121 Financial Ballpark.

Durham (36-32) took the lead after being shut out through the first three innings. After two quick outs to start the frame, Xavier Edwards (3) launched a solo home run, giving the Bulls a 1-0 advantage.

The Bulls added two more runs in the top of the seventh. Edwards led off with a single and two batters later, Jim Haley (11) blasted a two-run home run to put Durham ahead 3-0.

Jacksonville (37-31) tried to mount a late rally in the eighth inning. Santiago Chavez started the inning with a double and went to third on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Peyton Burdick singled, scoring Chavez to give the Jumbo Shrimp their first run of the game. A groundball allowed Burdick to advance to second, who then scored on a single from Lorenzo Quintana to make it a one-run game, 3-2.
